Questions and Answers
What’s the most valuable lesson you have learned, and who do you have to thank for it?
Patience – I learned this from my father who made submarine prop shafts which took all day to make. As regards the application of patience, I still have some way to go to reach his level of mastery! :-)
If you could talk to your younger self, what advice would you give them?
In the words of George Michael and Wham ‘Choose Life’ – in other words, pursue your dreams without a care for what bystanders tell you is possible and not.
What is the single thing you still most need to learn?
How to be gracious when things don’t work out quite as planned.
What do you hope your legacy will be?
Do what you enjoy and enjoy what you do. That is infectious.
What is the most surprising thing you’ve ever discovered about yourself?
That I think across several ‘modes’ at once. This can be surprising for others and I’ve had to work hard to think how to make the most of this skill over many years.
What one thing do you think every organisation would most benefit from doing, or doing differently?
Saying thank you for something well done or at least a very good attempt.
What is your worst habit?
Procrastination.
